Bio

Flavio Waiteman is a writer. It is his vocation and for 25 years he has shown his experience in the advertising market.

He started his career in the communication field at the age of 17 at Radio Stereo Show FM in São José do Rio Preto, SP. While he was still in college, he started working in an advertising agency called Interativa.

In search of the craft in the advertising world, he sold his share of the company, of which he had become partner,  and went to Lisbon to start his writing career in W / Portugal. He lived there for 5 years, until the moment the agency was among the 10 largest in the country. 

Back in Brazil, he worked at Master Communications in Curitiba. 

In 3 years he became Group Creative Director of the agency and leaded the offices in Curitiba, Brasilia, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. 

During that six-year period, he was part of the communication team that changed the Brazilian’s habit in relation to condoms by doing campaigns for the Ministry of Health, which also include campaigns that helped raise awareness among new generations about smoking.

 During this period he won 5 Rede Globo Regional Awards”Profissionais do Ano’’  (Professionals of the year) and 1 National Edition. He also won most of the major awards like Cannes Lion, One Show, Clio, Grand Prix on film at the New York Festival and figured on WPP’s (Neil French) cadre next to all holding offices as the 18th most creative office in the world.

In 2006 he went to São Paulo. He started as a writer at Nizan´s Africa Agency. 

And after 6 months he was promoted to Creative Director of Banco Itaú and Mitsubishi accounts. 3 years later he was promoted to Vice President of the Agency serving these same accounts and others like Vale and Vivo.

As a creative artist in Africa, Waiteman has intensely participated in the agency growth, being part of the team that placed Africa second in Cannes as the second best digital agency of the Year (2009), behind only CPB led by Alex Bogusky. And with achievements like the memorable pieces for Itau bank, among them the unbranded film and the famous “paperless baby” that was the last film of the institution to be among the favorite one of the Ibope for 3 months in a row, and the ads “You” and “4×4 is Mitsubishi”, he contributed for his own growth.

In 2012 he accepted to be a partner of Master Comunications, which held at the time the 48th position in the ranking of agencies, bringing it to the 21st position in just two years. In 2014 he left the business partnership. 

In 2016 he returned to Nizan´s Agency Group and was responsible for the creative department of Escala Agency. In that period the agency jumped from 38th to 17th position. 

In 2017 he founded the agency Tech and Soul together with Claudio Kalim, Claudio Gora and Fernando Amino. In just 2 years the Tech and Soul agency started to join festivals, and became a finalist in One Show, El Ojo and Estadão Awards.

He has a book published by Nobel the Practical Guide to Advertising, which has been downloaded more than 15 thousand times in digital.
